Bayly Christopher Alan
Ο Sir Christopher Alan Bayly γεννήθηκε το 1945 στην Αγγλία. Σπούδασε στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Οξφόρδης. Είναι καθηγητής Αυτοκρατορικής και Ναυτικής Ιστορίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Καίμπριτζ, πρόεδρος του St Catharine s College και διευθυντής του Κέντρου Νοτιοασιατικών Σπουδών του Καίμπριτζ, καθώς και εταίρος της Βρετανικής Ακαδημίας. Όταν το 2007 χρίστηκε ιππότης της Βασίλισσας, δήλωσε: "Το θεωρώ όχι μόνο μεγάλη προσωπική τιμή αλλά επίσης, ως ιστορικός της Ινδίας, αναγνώριση της αυξανόμενης σημασίας της ιστορίας του μη δυτικού κόσμου".
