Ο David Bowie υπήρξε φανατικός βιβλιόφιλος και μάλιστα ήταν γνωστό ότι διάβαζε τρία με τέσσερα βιβλία την εβδομάδα. Το 1976 πήρε μαζί του στο Μεξικό 400 βιβλία για το γύρισμα της ταινίας Τhe Man Who To Earth. Είπε στο Mr Showbiz το 1997: Ήμουν τρομοκρατημένος να τα αφήσω σπίτι μου (τα βιβλία), γιατί έκανα παρέα με κάτι περίεργα άτομα και δεν ήθελα να πειράξουν κανένα από τα βιβλία μου.
